Laughing Gas

Laughing Gas is readily available in our office and provides an excellent way to combat anxiety for most dental procedures. The mildest form of sedation that we use at Stamford dental center, gas flows through a comfortably fitting mask that rests over your nose. Laughing Gas is odorless and is used in combination with pure oxygen to induce a feeling of relaxation and well-being during treatment.

Laughing Gas often creates a pleasant feeling of euphoria that can make ordinary things seem funnier. Our team can easily customize the level of sedation for each patient, which takes effect within minutes. However, there are still several side effects of laughing gas and our best-rated dentists will discuss this with you during an initial consultation. Some of these side effects include headaches, shivering, excessive sweating, fatigue, and nausea. It is also worth mentioning that only a minority of patients experience any negative side effects. The chance of getting exposed to side effects occurs when the nitrous level is too high or if the amount being inhaled changes quickly.

As a mild sedation, you won’t experience any short-term memory loss as you might with other forms of sedation. At the end of treatment at the dental practice, the sedation caused by the Laughing Gas dissipates almost immediately, and you will be able to return home with absolutely no lasting effects. You don’t even need an escort to or from your appointment if you are using only Laughing Gas for sedation.

Dr. Modiri took his time with me unlike other dentists to discuss my issues. He was very thorough and presented me with dental treatment options. Very refreshing.
